Don and I used to spend several weeks each summer at Boothbay Harbor in Maine. Fabulous in the summer months for its perfect weather, great harbors and wonderful old world paintable boats, I spent most of my time painting on location. This particular island in the background is called Cape Island, located off the tip of the tiny village of Cape Newagen. It was the summer home of actress Margaret Hamilton who played the wicked witch of the west in the movie The Wizard of Oz. And the tour boat operators referred to this island as the witch’s island.
