Laura Todd paid me the biggest compliment by commissioning me to paint another of this subject matter. Easier this time, but still a challenge to paint all the white.
Originally, this painting was very difficult for me. I really struggled with it (over many days!). Reason being… when you first look at the subject all seems the same color and, more or less, the same values. But the walls, the chair, the daybed… all are a bit different. Or should be. A teeny tiny bit of difference.
I love to show warm against cool. Hard to see, so I had to invent. Wow. What an exercise.
