I have painted this scene numerous times. And, always, when I look back at them individually, I am amazed how different each one is from the others. Is it the weather? Or, perhaps, my mood, or the season? As in this case, autumn in Lourmarin always has a warm, golden glow. But this time I lined the mountain tops with a little silver. What made me do that? I think it is called the artist’s prerogative. Whatever… I wonder what I will do the next time I paint Lourmarin. And I know I will. Because it is such a compelling view.
