I painted portraits for twelve years and quit when I realized I was painting for others and not for myself. During this time I practiced on many a model. All of this left me with a desire (and joy) of painting the figure, which I still do from time to time. I especially love it when the model is doing something i.e., as here, napping after a long night out.
It’s almost as if she is saying…Oh, the dancing was great. But now my feet hurt. And I just feel like a good snooze is in order.
