Rooftops

For some unknown reason, I have always been attracted to the crookedness of Europeans rooftops...be it in Cortona or Honfleur, Lourmarin or Cassis, Rousillion or Saignon, Bonnieux or Paris. Earlier in my career I just recorded the colors in front of me and was quite literal with the drawing.  But now after so many years of painting such, I make them up, definitely the colors but also the drawing. Seems I never tire of creating beautiful color harmony and this is a way for me to do just that. - Alice Williams
