Elephants are my favorite animal in the whole wide world. Each time I am up close I am transfixed by their size, their obvious care for their young, their slow and easy nature, their silent treading. So I find myself painting them often and it seems to me they are always marching. Plus, it’s fun, almost necessary, to make them different colors… grey to me is rather boring. With this painting I chose blue.

To me, it is hard to imagine that any human being is capable of harming these magnificent, gargantuan beasts. Their numbers are decreasing at an alarmingly, fast pace in the world and, I hope in my lifetime, there will be an end to this grotesque slaughter.
