Commission a painting

Do you have a special spot you'd love to see an original oil by Alice Williams hanging, but your favorite is already sold or the wrong size? Let's talk about a special commission.

Here's how it works:

  • Click the Inquire button on the artwork detail page of the piece you would like as the subject matter and provide us with the following:

  • Preferred size

  • Preferred orientation

  • Notes on what elements you love about the piece. This is important, as your piece will not be an exact replica of the original - all pieces will be their own uniqueness to preserve their originality.

We will be in touch to advise a price, turnaround time, and a commission agreement.

  • 50% deposit is required on all commissions.

  • Alice requires one month’s time to complete the painting.

Alice and her studio assistant (aka husband) Don will take photographs and video as she nears completion of your piece. These will be shared with you for review. At this time, minor tweaks to the painting can be requested.

A final image and video will be sent along before the piece is prepared for shipment. Once approved, we will have the piece shipped to our framer for stretching and, if you would like, framed.

Here are a few examples of commissions:

A client found "Amaryllis Elegance III" (a very old painting of mine) in my first book and had to have her own. She loved everything about it. So, I kept the palette similar, along with my favorite amaryllis posts. I love seeing them side by side and how so many years apart they can compare and contrast.

This special commission had three major adjustments to it: palette, size, and shape. My first crack at painting a rainy day street scene of Ils Sur la Sorgue captured the mood of a dreary dusk. For the special commission, I used a brighter palette and pulled it all together a little tighter to fit the imagery into a square. Since I was paitning smaller, I wanted to make sure to keep it loose (painting smaller can lead to painting tighter!), and boy did I keep it loose.

I loved the end result, and so did the client!

A special client, and now a dear friend, had one of the most unique requests... he wants to have his family painted into the painting. He and his wife brought his three grandchildren to Paris, and wanted to capture the memory. So, the challenge was the capture their characteristics from photos they spent an afternoon staging in their backyard.

This was the smallest "portrait" I've ever done.
