Mauritius Island in February is mighty hot and humid, especially in the middle of the day when I wanted to paint.

But the good news is that our hotel room had air conditioning. And we had a balcony just large enough to set up all my paraphernalia to paint. Crack the door a bit and it was the perfect set-up.

Plus, we looked out right on the beach and that glorious bright green water, not to mention, the sweet boats and people swimming. So, most mornings found me painting away and the afternoons enjoying the beach, snorkeling and swimming in that delicious lagoon created by the barrier reef in the far distance.

Other days found me venturing to a neighbor’s villa to experience different ocean views, as is captured in this painting.
